How many times have we signed up for websites online and how many times have we checked the box that says, I have read the terms and conditions and have understood them before clicking submit. Well I know I have and had never been a person who had read any one of these terms of service. Well it just so happens that sometimes there are times when we might just give away more than what we think we did, by checking the option that says I have read it.

To demonstrate this and the dangers that accompany the fact that we click and agree on things that we do not really know, UK website, Gamestation added a “Immortal Soul Clause” into the terms of service. Shoppers who bought the very famous game Mario actually unknowingly sold their souls to the company.

Newslite.tv actually reports the article and this is what they have to say about it
Thousands of shoppers unknowingly signed their souls over to a computer-game store after failing to read the terms and conditions on their website.
GameStation added the “immortal soul clause” to online purchases earlier this month stating customers granted them the right to claim their soul. While all shoppers during the test were given a simple tick box option to opt out, very few did this, which would have also rewarded them with a £5 voucher. The store claims this shows 88 percent of people do not read the terms and conditions of a website before they make a purchase. Bosses also say they will not be enforcing their rights and will now email customers nullifying any claim on their soul.
Well lets hope that this serves as an eye opener for all of us to be able to at least skim through the terms and conditions in order to safeguard against a real claim unlike this one. We are ones to blame for the anti privacy softwares, by not able to read the terms and conditions well. In fact, you will be surely surprised about the terms and conditions of our favorite websites like Twitter, Facebook and Google.
Dude..thats a tough task..and the companies make the term & Conditions font and paragraphing intentionally illegible..Will try though..Informative post..
Thanks rahul ..
This is very scary I think from now on I will be reading those terms !!!
Tell me about it
I wonder How they can claim the soul though.. ??
I know, But I guess its more for the concept of the claim for the soul … not actually claiming it. Still the fact is it could be brain or kidneys tomorrow and still people will not read through it.
